The Humphrey School of Public Affairs inspires, educations, and supports innovative leaders to advance the common good in a diverse world.
The school offers degrees in Public Policy; Urban and Regional Planning; Science, Technology, and Environmental Policy; Human Rights; Development Practice in international development; and a mid-career Public Affairs degree. This ensures a great diversity of views and experiences among the faculty, staff, and students and makes for a rich learning environment. Our many policy, research, and outreach centers provide numerous opportunities to apply skills learned in the classroom.
We also offer graduate certificates in Nonprofit Management; Public Affairs Leadership; Human Services Leadership; Election Administration; Early Childhood Policy; and Policy Issues on Work and Pay. Graduate certificates offer professionals the opportunity to advance a skill set or learn a new set of proficiencies. All of our certificates benefit from flexible or distance learning options.
Additionally, Humphrey students benefit from many opportunities offered by attending one of the largest and most respected research universities in the world. Students can take courses in more than 150 graduate programs across the university or work as graduate assistants in other departments.
The Humphrey School also offers joint-degree programs in law, public health, business, civil engineering, and landscape architecture.

The Humphrey School is located on the West Bank of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. Students of the School benefit not only from our world-class faculty, but also by learning in a living laboratory of policy and planning. The School is a 15 minute walk to downtown Minneapolis, and a short bus ride from the state capitol. The Twin Cities also host over 4,000 nonprofit organizations, 19 Fortune 500 companies, and several federal and state agencies. There is no shortage of opportunity by attending the Humphrey School.
